Fabfouria! Celebrates George Harrison’s Birthday With New Questions

But You Have To Think For Yourself

Los Angeles, CA. February 21, 2012... Honoring George Harrison and his fellow Beatles, the new updated Fabfouria! app contains more than 50 questions about George. Based on Brooke Halpin’s recent quiz book, Do You Really Know The Beatles?, the updated Fabfouria! app covers the different periods of The Beatles history from early Beatlemania, to their tours, movies, recordings, and their solo years. Unlike the book, the questions have been converted into multiple choice.

The new update features 300 additional questions available for purchase and up to 50 free bonus questions that players can earn. Some of the questions present entertaining, brain teasing word play on Beatle songs. For example, if you like to sail ships and chop trees, what else might you like to do? The game continues to include some creative and entertaining visual and personality touches that hopefully elicit the same fun loving spirit and creativity that embodies the Beatles' musical and cultural legacy.

"I've been an avid Beatles fan for more than forty years, and Fabfouria challenges me each time I play," says customer Paul Williams, who grew up to the sounds of his parents' Beatles records playing on the family turntable. "The game covers the band, the songs, the times and so many interesting and unusual facts. We and our kids have so much fun playing it together, and I think they've learned more Beatles info from this app than most people ever know."

Robert Fitzpatrick, The Beatles former US Attorney says, “This quiz is perfect for Beatle trivia enthusiasts of all ages. It has a wide variety of questions, ranging from easy to challenging. Fabfouria is immensely informative. It even has questions that I couldn't answer!”

In 1963 Dick James Music created a company called Northern Songs for the purpose of publishing the songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The company went public in 1965 with Lennon and McCartney owning only 15% of the company’s shares.  Dick James and Charles Silver held the controlling shares, approximately 37% of the company.

In 1968 the Beatles created Apple Publishing and instead of renewing with Northern Songs George Harrison and Ringo Starr signed with Apple Publishing.  George Harrison later created a company called Harrisongs, which still owns the rights to many of his later songs hits including: “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Something”. Ringo Starr also created a publishing company named Startling Music, which holds the rights to songs like “Octopus’s Garden” and “Don’t Pass Me By.”

Lennon and McCartney attempted to buy Northern Songs in 1969 but instead James and Silver sold the company to Associated Television (ATV), a British TV company. Then, in 1985, after a short period in which ATV was owned by an Australian business magnate ATV Music and the rights to over 200 Lennon/McCartney songs was sold to Michael Jackson for $47 million.  Michael Jackson outbid both Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono.

Since 1995, Michael Jackson and Sony/ATV Music Publishing have jointly owned most of the Lennon-McCartney songs.  John Lennon's estate and Paul McCartney still receive their songwriter shares of all royalties.
